Luke 16 Commentary
A podcast listener named Nathan writes in to ask: A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives, but if her husband dies she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. So a Christian is not free to marry outside the Lord. Or 2 Corinthians 6: Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. So biblically the bottom line for the follower of Christ is: Will you marry only a believer. And what saddens me, Tony, is how many believers get so entangled emotionally with unbelievers that they either throw away their convictions or they stand on their head to see the other person as a believer when he is not. So let me make it a little more precise. A mature believer will want his or her spouse not just to profess some kind of creed or be willing to go to church.
I grew up in Cambridge, Minnesota — a town of 5, people and 22 Christian churches. My father was and still is pastor of a small church. My mother volunteered to support Christian missionaries around the world.

The subject of angels has long fascinated mankind, not just believers but unbelievers, and not just dedicated believers bent on spiritual growth, but also those with “itchy ears” for this subject but not necessarily for other teachings of the Bible. The purpose of this study is to give an essential overview of what God would have us to know about angels based upon what is actually contained in His Word.
The Purpose, Creation and Nature of Angels 1. The Purpose of Angels: It is important to remember that angels, for all their temporary superiority to mankind, are creatures too. God, the Creator of the universe, of time and of space, existed and exists before the universe and outside of it. Angels, on the other hand, as creatures, can only exist within the creation, and are, therefore, subject to time and space. Though their capabilities currently surpass those of human beings, they are still “fellow servants” of God, and subordinate to Him in every way Rev.

White House threatens US-Israeli relations, no congrats. White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Wednesday that the “president” did not congratulate Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his decisive election victory–not this time, nor the time before.
But contrary to many pundits, the crisis does not simply involve a decline in the Bible’s authority. Even when the Bible is turned to as the authority, it’s not necessarily interpreted Christianly. Some approach it simply as an advice book. Others approach it only as ancient history, using it as a piece of evidence in answering archeological or sociological questions about the ancient world. In response to this trend, an increasing number of scholars advocate a “theological interpretation of Scripture.
This way of reading moves us toward knowing the triune God and being formed as Christ’s disciples through Scripture. Some readers start with a detailed blueprint of what the Bible says, then read individual passages of Scripture as if they were the concrete building blocks to fit into the blueprint. Thus, the task of interpreting Scripture becomes a matter of discovering where in our theological system a particular passage fits. Others prefer a smorgasbord approach.
Imagine a huge cafeteria loaded with food of many kinds for many tastes. In this approach to Scripture, the Bible becomes the answer book for our felt needs and personal perspectives. With both the blueprint and smorgasbord approaches, we end up using Scripture for our own purposes. We are in control.

It is the sort of news that brings shame and disgrace to true Christians and most importantly, these kind of stories and scandals about church leaders disgrace the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. When church leaders are ruled by a sinful and hypocritical nature, it in may also inhibit unbelievers from coming to a knowledge of the truth regarding the word of God because of the hypocritical behavior that unbelievers may witness from various so-called church leaders.
Whether that leader is a pastor, a prophet, an elder, a deacon, a teacher etc, God desires that leaders be above reproach and that they lead an exemplary life that glorifies God and speaks of the virtues what it means to be part of the kingdom of God.

I have heard people say that they were not equally yoked with someone because of a different upbringing, decision making process, beliefs, finances, education, location and even appearance. That stuff has nothing to do with being equally yoked! A relationship with another person could be a marriage. If two people go to church together that does not mean that they are equally yoked. If one person goes to one church and the other person goes to another church, can they still be equally yoked?
If one person goes to church and the other person does not go to church can they still be equally yoked? Both people have to be Christians.
